A Blog For Our Mothers
Share
Mother's Day brings about an opportunity for me to pause and reflect on my own journey to motherhood.
Motherhood is, the most demanding and rewarding journey I have been on — and I felt this reflection deserved its own place here on my blog.
There’s always a wave of hype around Mother's Day — the flowers, the cards, the brunch plans. And while that celebration can be beautiful, I know firsthand that for many, it can also be a time of deep emotion. Maybe even pain. And that’s okay.
For me, motherhood and my children are both my greatest challenges and my greatest teachers. I've had moments filled with regret, and others overflowing with pride and gratitude. The emotional spectrum is wide — and very real.
So if, like me, your experience with motherhood has its own unique story, I invite you to celebrate it — just as it is. Celebrate the little wins, the quiet glimmers of joy, the moments when everything falls apart, and the ones when it all makes sense.
Being a mother is hard. It is a privilege. It takes strength — a deep, enduring strength — to show up through the chaos, the doubt, the exhaustion, and still keep going.
I’ve learned that to keep showing up, I have to look after myself too. That’s non-negotiable. I practice gratitude, I choose the healthier path when I can, and I keep rooted in the Word. That’s what grounds me. That’s what keeps me steady when things get tough.
As a mother my number one concern (whether it be healthy food choices, skincare or all over welfare) is my husband and my kids. Also..keeping myself healthy to take care of them.
For healthy skincare for my family, i always keep our tallow sunscreen in our swimwear bag, our comfrey healing balm in my diaper bag for stings and bites etc as well as our baby bum cream.
As for me, I don’t go a day without our tallow soaps and our tallow face and body balms.
Our tallow-oil cleanser is coming soon!
I will definitely be considered a ‘crunchy mom’ when it comes to healthy choices for my family.
Without fixating on it, I try to incorporate the 80/20 % rule in our family by sourcing the best I can, and choosing the healthiest choices I can find and afford.
I’ve been blessed with a loving birth mother and a family full of strong, incredible women. But my journey has also been shaped by others who aren’t directly related to me — and for that, I’m deeply grateful.
Grandmothers. A mother-in-law. Aunties. My mother’s friends. My friends’ mothers, spiritual leaders, and friends.
Some of these women are mothers themselves. Others are not — some single, some waiting for their own motherhood journeys to begin. But each one of them has shown up in ways that have mothered and nurtured me — and I hold their presence close to my heart.
There is more than one way to be a mother.
Wherever you are on your journey — whether you're celebrating, grieving, waiting, reflecting, or simply surviving —
You matter.
